IMPORTANT: EFRH Fall Season We Need Your Help!

Why the fall season is different!

There seems to be some confusion regarding the new format for the fall season. I hope this e-mail clears up any confusion. As some of you know our fall season participation is lower than usual. For this reason we are trying out a new format. Instead of forming normal teams we are going to have pick up style hockey games. We are still going to have 2 refs. and a scorekeeper and all the same game rules will still apply. The only difference is your child will not be on a set team. You will show up at your scheduled time and we will form the team by dropping sticks or by other methods. Jerseys will be handed out if needed. We are also trying to get some practice time in for the younger group which is so important at their age.

Affected Divisions

Minors: 2002 and lower (unless you registered as an Atom)
Majors: 2000 and 2001
Juniors: 1999, 98, 97
HS: 1996 and older

Why the change?

The main reason for trying an open hockey format is the lack of players for the fall season. If we were able to form 2-3 teams for each division you would have to play the same teams for the whole season and if the teams are not equal you may be losing every game. Also, because they will be playing with different kids each week, this will be a great opportunity to get to know each other and hopefully learn from each other as well. We think the kids will have a lot of fun this season.

We still need coaches!

Even though we don’t have scheduled teams we still need a couple of coaches for each group. We will need at least 1 coach or bench supervisor to sit on the bench during the game. You do not need your USA hockey level 1 certification for the fall season. If someone volunteers to be a coach or bench supervisor, their child can play for FREE. However if you are interested in becoming a coach full time please speak with a board member regarding your USA hockey insurance and level 1 certification.
