Thank You!

East Fishkill Roller Hockey would like to thank you for all the support during this transition period. This has been a very frustrating season getting used to the new rink and the issues that have come with it and with all the rain we’ve had. We are aware of the rink issues and are working on a number of different solutions including high powered fans, leaf blowers and brushes that clean the surface. If anyone has any other suggestions please let us know.

When we have been able to play, we’ve learned a lot about the surface and the equipment we use. Wheels with a durometer of 76 or 78 are the best to use. Anything softer and the wheels get eaten up pretty quickly. Anything harder and they won’t grip the surface and you’ll slide all over. This page has all the information you’ll need on wheels.

We are getting good feedback about the pickup format and turnout is great for the games and practices. There is great camaraderie within the division and the kids are learning a lot by having the opportunity to skate with different players. Plus they are just having a lot of fun this way. Playing with different players every week keeps them interested and they are not getting stuck on a losing team for the whole season. This is always about the kids and they seem to have adjusted both to the new surface and the new format very easily.

We have also juggled the schedule around, mostly in the Adult Division, to get the most games in that we can. Weekend games have been added so make sure to check the online calendar for the latest schedule.

Some of you have asked when the rink will be available for open skating. The town will open the rink from 3-5 p.m. every day coinciding with the hockey season (weather permitting). Helmets must be worn at all times.

Thank you again for your continued support and making East Fishkill Roller Hockey the best league in the Hudson Valley.
